is my ongoing practice of collecting leaves during walks, scanning them and tracing their silhouettes into vectors. Using a cutting machine, I then cut the leaf silhouettes out of magazines, comics, old documents and prints turned to scraps. Installed, the leaves are dispersed in piles on the floor and I shine an amber light onto them, reminiscent of the streetlights.
The leaves have since been incorporated into a number of other projects and collaborative works, including Sotoba Sotoba Komachi
, Mercua, Uncommon Times
at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and more recently, Scarecrow
at the Steppenwolf Theater, with performance company Every house has a door.
